Time For Some Creativity

The cooler weather makes me want to hunker down in my workroom and create. Surrounded by supplies that enticed me all summer have been patiently waiting for me to get creative. I say okay, let the games begin...come out baskets of fabric, scissors and embellishments. Let's get to work!
Here is a fun costume project I recently finished for a friend of mine for a Halloween party. The goal: Efi Trinket from Hunger Games.

It began with a size 16 halter dress from D.I. It was whittled down on the sides and hem leaving enough fabric to create the filled in neckline and collar.
The headpiece was created with feather butterflies attached to various lengths of black wire and secured to the clip.
Lots of butterflies secured with hot glue. I made a seperate apron underskirt with layers of tulle, satin, even a cardboard tube which made for some very padded narrow hips.

She looked awesome for the party with her blonde wig, black gloves and long winged eyelashes. She got rave reviews and I loved the challenge of making the dress from a picture.
